Automotive Courses As a qualified mechanic you could work in an amazingly diverse industry, whether servicing, repairing, working managing a fl­eet or as a mobile specialist, once qualified there are lots of career opportunities. Modern technology means you won’t just be working with sockets, wrenches and pliers to repair engines, with modern cars now requiring computer diagnostics for fault finding and repairs you will become familiar with the latest technology, repair techniques and testing.

We offer a range of professional qualifications and training that will allow you to become a qualified mechanic, whatever level you start at. The courses on this page show how you can study full-time to become a light vehicle specialist in general maintenance and repair. Level 1, 2 and 3 need to be achieved to be fully qualified.

This one-year course will provide you with the chance to become a fully qualified light vehicle technician.

You will gain higher practical skills training in our state-of-the-art workshops and working garages and on completion you will be able to understand and diagnose faults on a range of systems, have the knowledge and experience to be able to supervise others and have some understanding of how to run your own business, or work to become a diagnostic technician.

Areas you will cover include: engine faults, transmission issues, steering and suspension, chassis rectification, and electrical and electronic diagnostic testing.

GCSEs in English and maths at grade 4 or above, plus a relevant Level 2 qualification or experience in the sector

As part of your course you will be required to carry out Work Experience and/or an Industry Placement.

Progress the workplace or meet your ambition of setting up your own business. You may also wish to do further specialist training in bodywork and painting, electric vehicle, vehicle maintenance, or inspection and testing to broaden your expertise and develop your career.
