Course information

Cybersecurity professional working on two laptops This online qualification is designed to help develop your understanding of key data legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act. You'll learn about the steps organisations can take to safeguard data from common ICT system threats, and the potential consequences for both individuals and organisations if data protection fails.

• Current data protection legislation, and how it is applied
• Organisational procedures concerning data
• Possible threats to ICT systems and data, and how to protect against them
• Consequences of not protecting data, and the impact of possible breaches

Aged 19+ at the beginning of the academic year and will need to have the right to study in the UK and been a resident for a minimum of 3 years.

The qualification is assessed by internally set and marked assessments subject to external quality assurance. Where indicated in the unit specifications, assessment must meet the requirements of the identified assessment strategy/principles. Materials for internal assessment must be submitted to The Learning Curve for approval prior to use and must be mapped to the relevant unit, learning outcome and assessment criteria. All learning outcomes must be met to achieve a Pass – there is no grading.
