Course information

The level 4 sports massage qualification is a progression from level 3 and will equip you with all the skills you need to treat sports-related injuries and support the recovery of clients. This Sports Massage course was developed in association with The Association for Soft Tissue Therapists (SMA) and is fully endorsed and supported by The General Council for Massage Therapy (GCMT).

Upon completion of the course, you will be able to gain employment as a Sports Massage Therapist and obtain insurance, whether that is in your own practice or working alongside physiotherapists, chiropractors, and osteopaths within a sports massage clinic.

You’ll learn how to use advanced assessment techniques and deep tissue massage to treat existing conditions resulting from soft tissue dysfunction, treat minor injuries sustained during physical activity, and ease muscular tension in your clients.

• Anatomy and aetiology of soft tissue dysfunction
• Clinical Assessment methods and strategic planning
• The use of non-electrical therapeutic modalities in the treatment of soft tissue dysfunction
• Providing post treatment care

Level 3 Sports Massage

During the course learners will have the opportunity to work on clients when we open our sports injury clinic. Learners may also benefit from being able to work alongside a sports therapist to enhance their learning but this is not essential.

Assessment will take place through completion of a Learner Assessment Record (LAR). Closed book exam and observation of practical skills

• L3 Personal Training • HE courses in Physiotherapy
