Course information

Travel and Tourism Students The whole world awaits you when you study this course. So, if you are looking for an exciting and rewarding career in the travel and tourism industry, whether that’s as a cabin crew member, an overseas resort representative, a travel agent, a ski chalet host, a receptionist in hotels and holiday parks, or you want to work on a cruise ship, or event management, this course is perfect for you.
We work closely with travel and tourism organisations to ensure you have the relevant skills needed by employers. As part of our Travel and Tourism Training Suite we have a cabin crew training replica, overseas resort representative training venue, tourist information point and reception for you to practice the skills you need. Our students also experience working on a BAC 1-11 aircraft at the Cornwall Heritage Aviation Centre.

As well as delivering a wide range of skills and knowledge, our industry focus and employability ethos means that we have some of the best connections and partnerships to really help boost your career. For those looking to enhance their CVs, we have partnered up with specialist organisations such as Falmouth Events, The National Trust, St Ives Bay Holiday Park and Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre. Swissport (airport ground handling services) also endorses our cabin crew qualification.

Students take part in high profile events, like the Tall Ships Regatta, Falmouth Oyster Festival and the Padstow Christmas Festival. Students also have the opportunity to travel on a UK or overseas residential study visit; recent destinations include Barcelona, Paris, Disneyland and London. Other visits include Newquay Airport, the Eden Project, Heartlands, Flambards, St Ives, Pendennis Castle, St Michaels Mount, Lanhydrock, Bude and Land’s End. Plus, there is the chance to make the most of opportunities as they arise, such as going on board a cruise ship visiting Falmouth and to also take part in local, tourism related, community activities.

What our students say…

"The course is really well organised and we have a balance of theory and also fun practical assessments and trips to develop our industry skills." - Chloe, Level 3 Diploma student

"The staff team really develop our independence and leadership skills on the Extended Diploma. We are also working alongside industry professionals to develop links that will help with our careers" - Alisha, Level 3 Extended Diploma student

You will also study our popular Cabin Crew qualification, which is taught by a staff member who also flies as cabin crew for British Airways, and this will also provide you with a detailed foundation for a career in the airline industry.

(Please note that if you are a mature learner, already in full-time employment, but planning a career change, then you too can join our Cabin Crew course, as a part-time student.)
