Course information

Plumbing Courses This is a one-year Level 1 introductory course to plumbing, teaching you the essential health & safety practices you will need to work in a trade profession.

Often called upon in an emergency, if you can fix a leaking pipe, mend a broken toilet, or repair a central heating system, you will be hailed a hero. An experienced plumber should have the ability to work in a variety of different environments and during your time with us we will teach you the practical, hands-on skills and industry legislation to enable you to do this, either as an employee or running your own business.

We offer both full-time study and apprenticeship options for you to train to be a professional plumber. We offer this Level 1 introductory year if you do not have the required grades to start at Level 2.

Practical skills such as cutting, bending and joining pipes and fittings, backed up by some classroom theory to introduce you to concepts of plumbing and heating systems and how they work. You will be assessed throughout the course on your practical work.

Entry requirements for external applicants and school leavers
• Two or more GCSEs at Grade 2 or above, or successful competition of Entry Level Qualification.
• Learners with relevant industry experience but no GCSEs at Grade 2 may be considered based on interview.

Entry requirements for existing learners with the Cornwall College Group
• Successful completion of previous course and, where relevant, progress in maths and/or English.

Grade 3 in Maths and English or above.

You can expect to be continually assessed throughout the duration of the course.
