Course information

Joinery Courses If you are interested in working in the construction industry, specifically learning a wood trade we offer a choice of specialist training, in bench joinery and site carpentry. Site carpentry focuses on woodwork essential to a construction site, and includes fitting flooring, roofing frame installation, partition wall construction and stair building. Bench joinery is predominantly more workshop based, where you make and prepare materials for installation on a construction site.

This Level 1 course is an ideal introduction to working with wood in the construction industry if you have no prior knowledge or understanding of the trade.

We offer specialist training and qualifications in both bench joinery and site carpentry. There is opportunity to cross over between the two disciplines if you start down one path but then decide it is not right for you.

Please note: As part of your course you may be required to carry out Work Experience and/or an Industry Placement.

You’ll gain essential health and safety awareness and an introduction to the tools and equipment of the trade. Offering a general introduction to the industry, this is a great way to research which specialist pathway you want to progress on, site carpentry or bench joinery.

Entry requirements for external applicants and school leavers
• Two or more GCSEs at Grade 2 or above, or successful competition of Entry Level Qualification.
