Bricklaying Students Could not see yourself in an office? Enjoy working outside? This could be the course for you. This course is a great start or to advance your career as a bricklayer.

The first thing you’ll notice about this course is that it’s about practical learning – you’ll be spending a lot of time in our workshop, learning by doing as you work on a range of materials and tools. This will support your in advancing you knowledge and your employability

As a Level 2 course, this diploma is all about advancing your knowledge to the bricklaying industry and developing your essential skills. You’ll be learning from experienced and professional bricklayers, who are there to give you the very best start to your career.

We do everything in our workshop: from brick to block work, line work, piers, corners, one brick thick walls, cavity walls, arches, render and finish plastering and much more! As you more up course levels these units will get more complicated as you progress through the course. L2 will give you knowledge of industry standards

The average Bricklayer salary in United Kingdom is £39,098 per year or £20.05 per hour. Entry level positions start at £23,414 per year while most experienced workers make up to £52,000 per year.

Our workshop features industry-standard equipment and kit, exactly like a working site. We also have a strong partnership with the local businesses, so while you’re on this course push yourself you stand a great chance of getting an apprenticeship. Practical elements of brickwork and blockwork, including cavity walling and decorative brickwork. Theory modules relating to brickwork, Health &safety, and principles of construction.

This is a 1 Year course run over 2 evenings per week (Tuesday/Wednesday) term time only 6PM-9PM

The principles of brickwork and construction along with current building regulations and legislation allowing the learner to take these skills into the workplace.

Entry requirements for external applicants and school leavers
• Three or more GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, or successful completion of a relevant Level 1 qualification.

Entry requirements for existing learners with the Cornwall College Group
• Successful completion of previous course and, where relevant, progress in maths and/or English.

Grade 3 in Maths and English

Practical assessments will take place throughout the course. Learners will also complete Health & Safety and principles of construction multiple choice exams.

This will provide a stepping stone for learners that wish to enter the construction industry. It can lead to apprenticeships or fulltime work. The learners will be able to apply for the CSCS approved worker permit once they have achieved the H&S module. Other progression routes available are, HNC, HND leading to managerial roles within the sector.
