Plumbing Courses So you want to be an Electrician?

Welcome to level 2 electrical installation.

Following on from level 1 or starting directly at level 2, this 2 ½ day a week course offers a wide range of technologies found today within the electrical industry, from basic domestic installations to industrial, commercial, renewable energies, smart homes, car charging to mention but a few. Our extensive and high class training facility offers the learner every advantage in completing this course. Our lecturers are all time served and experienced personnel from diverse areas within the industry and are energised and driven to help you make your dream come true.

The 1st thing you will notice is our large well stocked practical bays, where, as students you will get lots of hours of practical experience, from simple lighting circuits to more complex simulated house installs. We supplement this with extensive classroom learning, thereby equipping you with all the basic knowledge and practical experience to set your career off on a solid foundation from which you can build a bright future within the electrical industry.

This one-year course will explain the systems and practices found in the electrical industry. From the rules that govern us to the practical applications. From how to apply the correct theory to practical situations to fault finding. The principles of electrical installation will be broken down and what seems a mine field will become a light bulb moment and you will see it all clearly.

Entry requirements for external applicants and school leavers
• Three or more GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, or successful completion of a relevant Level 1 qualification.

Entry requirements for existing learners with the Cornwall College Group
• Successful completion of previous course and, where relevant, progress in maths and/or English.

Minimum Grade 5 GCSE in Maths and English Language.

Learners must be 16 years of age, demonstrate a keen willingness to learn and thus the potential to achieve this qualification.

Work experience and placements offer an exciting opportunity to enhance your skills and knowledge, allow you to understand first hand, the sector in which you would like to work. Our Skills to Business team can support you to find suitable placements.

You will be assessed through online examinations, practical assignments and a theory assignment.

Once you’ve completed the Level 2 course, you’ll have a real understanding of Electrical Installation its principles and practical applications and be ready to move on to the more advanced Level 3 and/or apprenticeship courses so if earning whilst learning appeals to you this is a great 1st step to gaining that apprenticeship.
