This is a one-year intensive course leading to a Functional Skills English qualification.
It is designed to improve your English skills to solve a number of problems in life and work.
This course is free of charge if you have not previously achieved a grade 4 - 9 (or A* to C) in English.
You will need to be willing to work independently in addition to attending all the timetabled lessons.
We offer City and Guilds Functional skills English at Entry level, Level 1, and Level 2. Your initial and diagnostic assessments will help determine which level will be a suitable starting point for you.
Functional Skills English qualifications ensure that learners can speak, listen, communicate, read, and write with increasing clarity, accuracy, and effectiveness so that they can prepare for employment. It is also relevant for people in a current role looking to develop their skills resulting in the achievement of a nationally recognised qualification.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however you will complete an Initial and Diagnostic assessment to ensure you are working at the most appropriate level for your current needs.
The course is assessed via an on-demand exams in Reading and Writing, and teacher assessed elements of Speaking, Listening and Communication.
