Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Diploma

Automotive Courses This course is a perfect progression from the Level 1 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance Technician and develops existing knowledge by examining the components of vehicle maintenance and repair in more detail, preparing you with an advanced skillset necessary for success in a fast-moving and dynamic industry.

The first thing you’ll notice about this course is that it’s about gaining a rounded knowledge and the practical skills required for a job in the industry – you’ll be spending a lot of time in our workshop, putting your knowledge into practice and improving your hand skills and diagnostic knowledge.

You’ll be looking at everything: engines, tyres, brakes, steering, suspension, transmission, electrics and electronics. Basically, if it’s in a car, you’ll be studying it and developing all of the essential skills you need as a technician, practicing and carrying out maintenance and repair activities as you progress through the course.

Our workshop features industry-standard equipment and kit, exactly like a working garage. We also have a strong partnership with the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), so employers know an automotive qualification from The Cornwall College Group means you have the very best skills as a mechanic or technician. So, if you are looking to develop a career in the automotive industry, want to learn from industry professionals and have a passion for the ever changing vehicle technologies then this is the best place to start.
