Nail Technology Enhancements Diploma Level 2

If you are interested in a career as a nail technician, then this course will equip you with the latest skills and know how. This course offers you the skills required to gain employment as a nail technician at Level 2 Standard. You will receive training in manicure, pedicure, nail art, and nail enhancements.

With nail bars becoming a commonplace on the high street, this course will equip you with the essential skills to start employment in this fast growing industry. This is suitable for students new to the beauty industry wanting to become a nail technician in a nail bar or beauty salon.

You will be required to attend college three/four days a week and complete a work placement alongside this course whilst attending college.

You will need to complete external work experience for one day a week.

What you will learn

You will be hands-on from the first week. Learning in our purpose-built nail bar, you will be training in a dynamic and professional commercial environment.

On this course you will get to develop you work based skills; recognising the importance of professional practice. You will learn how to:

Provide manicure services
Provide pedicure services
Carry out nail services
Apply and maintain nail enhancements to create a natural finish
Fulfil salon reception duties
Develop and maintain effectiveness at work
Promote additional services or products to customers
Ensure responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety

Our tutors are industry professionals and they will demonstrate the practical techniques as well as best practice so that you can be sure that you are equipped with the skills and know-how to perform these services independently.

Practical skills are developed on hand trainers and peers. Once a level of competence is reached clients are to be used for assessment. Theory is delivered alongside each unit and assessed with exams.

Students will be expected to wear uniform and present themselves in a professional manner as practical work will be assessed in the commercial salon.

Entry requirements

A minimum of GCSE grade 4 in English OR maths. You will be required to study the subject in which you have not gained a grade 4 in whilst completing you course. If you do not gain a grade 4 in either English or Maths you will need to study the Level 1 course first.

If you do not meet these requirements a Level 1 provision is available as a stepping stone onto Level 2.

Work experience

You are expected to find an external work placement while on the course. This will help you gain valuable work experience to help you develop a career in this exciting industry. However, we have work place coordinators that can help you or you may be able to gain work experience in our own commercial Salons open to the public.

Assessment

You will be assessed through online multiple choice questions, as well as practical assessment on clients in our commercial salons that are open to the public.

Progression

Once you have completed the Nail Services Level 2 course, you will have a basic understanding of the nail industry and be ready to move on to the more advanced Level 3 course.

You could use your newly gained qualification to seek employment in industry. However, it is always an advantage to offer as many different services as possible to your clients, so once you have achieved your Level 2, we would recommend that you enhance your knowledge base and develop your skills by progressing on to the Nail Services Level 3 course at Cornwall College.
