Course information

Plumbing Courses If you enjoy getting hands on and have your sights set on becoming a plumber, then this is the course for you and will be your next step after level 1 to further your career in the construction industry.

The first thing you’ll notice about this course is that it’s about practical learning – you’ll be spending a lot of time in our workshop, learning by doing as you work on a range of pipes and systems.

You’ll be looking at everything: cloakrooms, appliances, cylinders, boilers and bathrooms. Basically any plumbing installation you find in a house you’ll be studying it and developing all of the essential skills you need as a plumber, carrying out maintenance and repair activities as you progress through the course.

Our workshop features industry-standard equipment and kit. We also have a strong partnership with the plumbing industry in our area, so employers know a plumbing qualification from The Cornwall College Group means you have the very best skills as a plumber. So, if you’re a bit of a hands on person and want a career in construction, this is the best next step after level 1.

As a Level 2 course, this diploma is all about advancing your knowledge gained in level 1 for and developing your essential skills even more. You’ll be learning from experienced plumbing and heating engineers, who are there to give you the very best next step to your career.

This one-year course will explain the systems, components and terminology used in the plumbing industry, you will learn how the advanced systems work and how they interact with one another. By gaining an advanced knowledge to all the plumbing systems of a house, how they work and how they interact with one another, you will be prepared for the more specialised practical repair, installation and diagnostic elements of further qualifications at level 3

Entry requirements for external applicants and school leavers
• Three or more GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, or successful completion of a relevant Level 1 qualification.

Entry requirements for existing learners with the Cornwall College Group

Once you’ve finished the Level 2 course, you’ll have a real in depth understanding of plumbing systems and be ready to move on to the more advanced level 3 course or an apprenticeship.
