Self-harm and Suicide Prevention Certificate Level 2 (Online) (TQUK)

A distressed person in a dark room sitting alone on a sofa This qualification is aimed at anyone seeking to improve their understanding and awareness of suicide and self-harm. The knowledge individuals will gain is not sector-specific but can be applied to a broad range of personal and professional situations.

Some courses and subjects covered in programmes can be upsetting for learners and, although The Skills Network has made every effort to include trigger warnings where appropriate, it is important to acknowledge that they cannot know or understand potential triggers for all learners. The course is designed to provide training and further knowledge and should not be undertaken as a form of non-clinical therapeutic intervention or counselling.

What you will learn

Unit 1: Introduction to suicide and self-harm awareness
Unit 2: Recognising the signs of suicide and self-harm in individuals
Unit 3: The principles of suicide and self-harm prevention
Unit 4: Support for individuals when dealing with grief after suicide

Assessment

The qualification is assessed by internally set and marked assessments subject to external quality assurance. Where indicated in the unit specifications, assessment must meet the requirements of the identified assessment strategy/principles. Materials for internal assessment must be submitted to The Equal Platform for approval prior to use and must be mapped to the relevant unit, learning outcome and assessment criteria. All learning outcomes must be met to achieve a Pass – there is no grading.
