Course information

T Level Health and Social Care T Levels are a 2-year qualification that you can do after your GCSEs as an alternative to A levels, other post-16 courses or an apprenticeship. They have been designed with leading businesses and employers to give you the knowledge and skills you need.

Your T Level will be worth UCAS points (a T Level Distinction* is worth the same as 3 A levels at A*) and will be recognised by universities and other education providers so you can choose to continue studying if you wish.

Opportunities within healthcare are rising, with a predicted growth of over 290,000 jobs by 2024, which means that now is a fantastic time to get into this rewarding sector.

Careers in healthcare are fulfilling, making a real difference to the lives and welfare of others. If you’re caring, compassionate and supportive, then you’ll be well-suited to a career in this sector, with plenty of opportunities to progress and climb the career ladder.

This qualification has been designed with employers and businesses and is structured to allow you to spend 80% of your time in the classroom and 20% on a 45-day placement.

This two-year qualification in health has been developed in consultation with employers in the industry to ensure that you will develop the core knowledge and practical skills needed to work within a range of health occupations.

The course will include core and specialist content, developing a general understanding of various topics including:

• Working within the health and science sector
• Principles of good scientific and clinical practice
• Providing person-centred care
• Supporting health and wellbeing
• Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, diseases, and disorders

You will also develop a more focused understanding of either the supporting the mental health team or supporting the therapies team criteria within the second year (depending on uptake).

You must have a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Mathematics, English Language and Science.

Alternatively, you should have passed a relevant Level 2 qualification with at least a Merit grade and GCSE passes in English Language, Science and Mathematics at grade C/4 or above.

You will have a positive school/college reference with excellent levels of attendance and punctuality.

All students working with vulnerable people will need to have a DBS Check which requires evidence of your identity which could include: Birth Certificate, Passport, bank statement, P45/P60, letter from your headteacher.

2 days a week (minimum of 315 hours over the 2 years) within a real workplace setting allowing you to apply the knowledge and skills employers are looking for.

You will be assessed through coursework, observations in placement, employer set project and examinations.

On completion of the T Level Health, you could progress onto a Higher-Level Apprenticeship. The NHS has a wide range of Advanced Level Apprenticeship that students can progress onto such as: • Allied Health Profession Support • Dental Nursing • Informatics • Health and Social Care • Healthcare Science Assistant • Maternity and Paediatric Support • Nursing Degree Apprenticeships • Operating Department Practice Degree Apprenticeship • Pharmacy Services Assistant • Podiatry Degree Apprenticeship You could also enter straight into the world of work in the Health Sector as an: • Ambulance Care Assistant • Emergency Care Assistant • Healthcare Assistant • Care Worker • Palliative Care Assistant • Dental Nurse • Mental Health Support Or you could progress onto a Higher Education degree at various universities.
