Who is it aimed at?
These qualifications are for current or aspiring managers responsible to senior leaders. Their key role is to lead teams in achieving organisational objectives. Duties may include team development, project and operational planning, managing change, finances, resources, quality improvement, business innovation, and overseeing human resources.
Delivery and duration
These units are delivered face-to-face at our St Austell campus with tutor supported sessions on Microsoft teams. Each unit has a credit score to enable you to achieve the required programme qualification – award, certificate or diploma.
Management and Leadership Level 5
Award
At least one unit to the minimum of 4 credits, plus a written work-based assignment – £695
An award develops your knowledge by focusing on a specific area relevant to your job, plus a written work-based assignment.
Certificate
Combination of units to the minimum of 13 credits, plus written work-based assignments per unit – £1250
(Please note this price may vary depending on the number of units undertaken) The certificate is flexible, allowing you to choose units that suit your needs and build your skills.
Diploma
Combination of units to the minimum of 37 credits, plus written work-based assignments per unit – £3,200

Principles of Leadership Practice (526) – 8 Credits

The aim of this unit is to develop managers’ understanding of ethical leadership and the impact of culture and values on leadership. Managers will examine leadership models and the concept of empowerment, with consideration of techniques and methods for leading others.

The ability to translate organisational objectives into operational plans is an essential management skill. The unit opens with the importance of understanding the strategic direction of the organisation and how to contribute to the strategic planning process. It then focuses on the knowledge and skills required to create and deliver operational plans. This includes the need to set key performance indicators, monitor quality and outcomes against the plan, and know how to effectively report on findings.

Change is inevitable if an organisation is to maintain competitiveness and currency of practice. This unit has been designed to enable the learner to evaluate types and reasons for change within organisations and be able to select and apply theoretical models for its management. The purpose is not only to enable learners to develop the skills to manage change and achieve set objectives, but to do so in a professional manner with open and honest communication throughout the entire process.
