Everyday Maths Workshop : Parents supporting secondary school children
This maths course is aimed at parents of secondary school children’, to develop mathematical skills to support their children, and to be more confident in their own use of maths in applied situations.
This course is designed to build your confidence in maths and enhance those numeracy skills that you use in every day situation.
From this, you can understand how to overcome maths problems and use your maths knowledge in real world solutions. You will be able to teach your children the skills you have acquired in this course.
What will you study?
You will develop the following mathematical skills, therefore be able to:
- add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers: solve problems with and without a calculator
- work with whole numbers, fractions, percentages and decimals
- work with money, time
- read, measure, estimate and compare length, weight and capacity
- collect, record and present data so it makes sense to others
