At Cornwall College we want to remove as many barriers to learning as possible. If you are starting a full-time study programme with us we have a number of bursaries to financially support you with your studies. Alongside this our students are able to access exclusive offers and discounts through UniDays and the Student Union. If you are a wage earning apprentice then bursary funding is not available.
Bursaries for 2023-24
If your household income is £70,000 or less per year and your course qualifies; then you could be eligible for a college bursary to support with travel, meals and childcare.
How do I apply for a college bursary?
It is really easy to apply for a college bursary and you can now do this online and directly upload your household income evidence to our online portal. This can be done on a PC or a phone or tablet.
Please watch our demonstration video which takes you through the steps needed to apply for your bursary. Alongside this please read through our FE Financial Support Guide to see what household income evidence we require from you to confirm your award. Once you have created your online bursary account you can log back into it at any time, to upload household income evidence, view your payment schedule and timetable.
Once we have assessed your application, we will contact you by email to let you know the outcome of your bursary application.

Will the college bursary support with travel costs?
- You must live more than 3 miles from your chosen campus to be eligible for any transport assistance.
- If your family household income is below £35,000 per year, you could be entitled to funded college transport. If your household income is £35,001 – £70,000 per year, then you could be entitled to a 10% discount off your college bus pass.

Am I eligible for a Free College Meal?
You could get a free meal whist at college if your household income is below £16,190 per year and you are aged 16-18 on a full-time study programme. Please refer to our FE Financial Support Guide
Am I eligible for support with my childcare?
Yes, you will be able to apply for financial support towards childcare costs through Care to Learn. Please click here to apply https://www.gov.uk/care-to-learn
Am I eligible for a bursary to support with course fees?
If you are aged under 19 on 31st August 2023 then your course will be free. However, there may be some additional costs for optional trips, recommended text books and professional start up kits.
Bursary Plus
There is a bursary available for you if you are aged 16-18 at the start of the course and are in any of the following categories:
- In receipt of Income Support or Universal Credit in your own right
- In care
- Care leaver
- In receipt of both Disability Living Allowance / PIP (Personal Independence Payment) along with Employment Support Allowance
This bursary can support you with travel and course related costs for essential equipment and resources.
Am I able to get support with residential accommodation costs?
Yes, if you are required to stay in residential accommodation due to your chosen course not being available locally and / or because the course requires you to be available during out of college hours on a regular basis. The closing dates for the Residential Bursary will be Monday 31st July 2023.
