The Cornwall College Group is thrilled to introduce an exciting opportunity to explore the world of sustainable construction, all tailored for students aged 14-16 – the Green Skills Construction Pathway.

What’s New?

Green Skills Pathway: Dive into the world of sustainable building practices which are essential for our planet. Young people can sample the world of sustainable construction, learn about renewable energy right here in Cornwall or the new developments in renewable tech happening right now, whilst taking part in exciting experiments.

Locations: Previously only available at our Camborne site, these workshops can now also be accessed at our St Austell campus. This makes it easier for more learners to get involved, especially in areas where opportunities are needed the most.

What Workshops Are On Offer?

Learn about issues impacting sustainability, who is responsible for climate action and an opportunity to create a sustainability action plan (available as six sessions, each two hours)

Sample the world of sustainable construction and learn about the innovative ways of building vital infrastructure that is future proof (available as six sessions, each two hours)

Gain valuable first-hand knowledge and skills in new engineering techniques that are paving the way towards a more circular and sustainable future (available as six sessions, each two hours)

An opportunity for a snapshot into the world of renewable technologies (available as six sessions, each two hours)

Get hands-on experience with renewable technologies and build your own solar powered models, wind turbines or a functioning hydrogen car (available as half day or full day workshops)

Find out what carbon emissions are, calculate your own carbon footprint and how we can lower carbon emissions are on an individual and global scale (available as half day or full day workshops)

Social action for the environment outside of school

Available as assemblies or 101 sustainable career guidance sessions

The Construction Skills Hub project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as a lead authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects  funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
