Engineering stronger industry bonds
The Plymouth Engineering Skills Centre, part of The Cornwall College Group (TCCG), recently hosted a highly successful “Employer’s Breakfast”, bringing together local businesses to explore how collaborating with the education sector can contribute to the region’s economic growth.
The event, designed to foster partnership and innovation within the engineering industry, served as a dynamic platform for insightful discussions on shaping the future of engineering through effective education and training strategies, like apprenticeships.
During the morning session, Plymouth Labour MP Luke Pollard emphasised the significance of further education apprenticeship opportunities and harnessing local talent, aligning with the Labour Party’s “Local Industrial Strategy”.
Andy Phillips, head of campus, expressed his excitement for the future of industry collaboration and stated: “Initiatives like this are essential for advancing the industry and ensuring that the workforce is well-prepared for the challenges ahead”.
“As we navigate the complexities of the engineering landscape, it is evident that partnerships between industry and further education are key to success,” he continued.
