Cornwall College St Austell is hosting a virtual open day for all 16-18 school leavers on Tuesday 9th February 5 – 7.30pm.
Potential learners and their families can learn more about the wide range of full-time courses on offer at the local college, as well as learning about some of the new programmes that were introduced in September including Childcare, Health & Social Care and Business.
There will be a welcome from the Head of College Mark Wardle, and tutors will be sharing information about the courses available and the support potential students can expect to receive.
Visitors to the online event will have the opportunity to watch curriculum presentations and to ask questions through a live chat.
Mark said he is “delighted” to be able to offer another virtual open event to prospective students.
“This is once again a challenging time for everyone and we have risen to the challenge by providing a virtual platform for people to regularly explore the amazing opportunities on their doorstep,” he continued.
“Please join us to find out about all the exciting opportunities we have at St Austell and how you can get the qualifications, industry experience and personal skills you need to build the career you want.”
The College boasts a stunning new student social area, The Space. The multi-functional area helps students balance their studies with some deserved downtime. Furnished with lounge seating, a chill-out room to watch DVDs, a pool table, a dart board, and multiple video games consoles, it is a place for students to be themselves, relax and have fun with their friends.
In addition, industry-standard facilities including hair and beauty salons, a state-of-the-art kitchen, and a construction skills training centre provide the local community with all the experiences and skills necessary for excelling in their careers.
The Cornwall College Group (TCCG) is investing heavily in its campuses, student experiences and staff training.
“Our new and highly experienced leadership team has worked tirelessly with staff over the last year to transform the Group and we have made significant savings while repurposing campuses to deliver modern, forward-thinking courses that will lead to rewarding careers,” said John Evans, CE & principal of TCCG.
“What makes this turnaround in our financial performance even more impressive is we have made significant changes while improving our outcomes for learners. I knew we would transform this Group when I arrived last year, but I am so proud of how quickly our staff have achieved this, through dedication, hard work and a passion for giving learners a quality experience.”
Next on the list is a planned new college in St Austell that John believes will have a significant impact.
“Without doubt a modern, vibrant new build in St Austell will be transformative for the people of St Austell and its surrounding area for generations to come,” he said.
The full course offering at St Austell campus includes; Acting, Apprenticeships, Art & Design, Business, Catering & Hospitality, Childcare, Construction Trades, Dance, Engineering, Games Design, Hair & Beauty, Health & Social Care, I.T, Photography, Media, Motor Vehicle, Music, Travel & Tourism and Vocational & Work-related Studies, not to mention Access to Higher Education and Adult Leisure courses.
